New York Jets: Week 9 Injury Report and Update

The New York Jets have been a banged up bunch over the last few weeks. After a relatively injury-free September, October was a little rougher for the team.

Then November came…

Gang Green didn’t just lose starter Ryan Fitzpatrick to injury on Sunday, but they also lost backup Geno Smith. Fitzpatrick’s injury will ultimately require surgery to completely repair the ligament damage in the thumb on his non-throwing (left) hand. Smith’s injury to his non-throwing shoulder – at the moment – is day-to-day, which means the Jets may seriously be contemplating first team reps for third string quarterback Bryce Petty this week in practice.

Here is the Jets initial Week 9 Injury Report, which can also be found on the team’s official website here:

Name: Position: Injury:
Bailey, Dion S Hip
Colon, Willie G Knee
Decker, Eric WR Knee
Giacomini, Breno T Thumb
Ivory, Chris RB Hamstring
Mangold, Nick C Neck
McDougle, Dexter CB Hand
Powell, Bilal RB Ankle
Pryor, Calvin S Ankle
Quigley, Ryan P Right Shin
Skrine, Buster CB Shoulder/Hand
Smith, Devin WR Ankle
Williams, Leonard DE Knee
Williams, Marcus CB Hamstring

The injury status of those players listed above should change as the week progresses. The quarterback situation should also be heavily monitored.

The Petty Watch has officially begun.
