The New York Jets 2016 schedule is brutal and the NFL didn’t do them any favors with the first nine weeks of the season. Not having a quarterback right now is very nerve-wrecking, so the Jets need to decide quickly whether to pay Ryan Fitzpatrick, draft a quarterback at 20 or start either Geno Smith or Bryce Petty.
The Jets play six of their first nine games on the road and they open up at home against the Cincinnati Bengals. So if Ryan Fitzpatrick isn’t the starter and they have another inexperienced quarterback under center, the Jets will lose this one at home. They then travel to Buffalo for a Thursday night showdown and fall to 0-2. It doesn’t get easier for the Jets as they go to Kansas City the following week and lose as well.
Staring at a 0-3 start, week four brings in the Seattle Seahawks. The Jets play inspired football and the nameless quarterback finally finds his rhythm and leads the Jets to their first victory. At 1-3, their next two games are on the road and they lose both games in Pittsburgh and Arizona falling to 1-5 on the season.
Jets fans are calling for Todd Bowles job, but the Jets rally back in their next two games against Baltimore at home and on the road in Cleveland. They win those two games relatively easy to improve to 3-5. Escaping the cold weather in New York to travel to Miami to play the Dolphins is much needed and their defense dominates in South Beach. Coming off to face the Rams at 4-5 is another cakewalk and now the Jets are 5-5 as they face their division nemesis, the New England Patriots.
The Jets are inspired and knock off the Patriots at home, then they take care of the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers to improve to 8-5. Their last three games are against the division. They sweep the Dolphins but lose in Foxboro. At 9-6, the Jets are in a must win game at home to the Bills to make the postseason. Unlike last season, they get the victory and sneak into the playoffs at 10-6.
